The eighth annual Field Day at Huttonville Park drew six to seven hundred attendees. Milton won the Junior Farmer Championships, Norval took the Girls’ section, Acton Juniors led in both Boys and Girls Inter Club Relays, and several novelty races were won by Acton and Norval competitors. The day ended with a dance by Norm Wilkinson Orchestra of Hamilton.

Tree Fire on Elgin Street Baffles Residents

Steer Runs Wild Through Milton on Main Street
An 18 month old steer weighing about a half ton escaped on Milton Main Street Tuesday. George Wingate Rockwood livestock dealer tried to secure it but the animal dragged the halter rope for 200 yards. Frightened bystanders fled as the steer dashed toward Martin Street and plunged into Milton Flour Mills mill race. A dozen men pulled it from the water and returned it to the slaughter house.
