Nitrogen Boosts Hay Yields On Halton Farms
A Halton Crop Improvement Association trial across ten farms tested ammonium nitrate at 100 lb per acre on meadows. May and June 1950 were dry, but 1951 showed striking gains with treated plots yielding up to 2.1 tons more per acre on several farms. Across four fields grasses dominated. red clover and alfalfa showed less effect.
