Records of a Pioneer Era Exhibit at Acton Fair
Last fall I enjoyed the Acton Fair historical exhibit and learned from Mrs. John Marshall that Eden Mills resident Geo Smith has a notable collection of pioneer artifacts. The items include a 1618 gun with a powder horn, old weigh scales, tokens for Eden Mills Presbyterian Church, a brass preserving kettle, a meteoric stone, Highlander relics, ostrich eggs, spoons from Edward VII coronation, horn drinking cups, an English bow, a Colt revolver from 1840, and other Scottish and colonial era pieces. Mr. Smith invites visitors to see the collection, and I thank Mrs. Marshall for highlighting this engaging historic material.
