Acton Student Anne Vale Chosen for Halton Speaking Final
Anne Vale was named Acton’s representative in the Halton County public speaking finals after winning best of seven in the Acton Home and School Association contest. Judges included Rev. A. H. McKenzie and Peter Dunham. The winner will speak Friday night at Robert Lite School auditorium and have her name inscribed on the M Z Bennett trophy in the Acton public school panel.

Miss Joyce Baker of Toronto suffered scalp lacerations as two cars collided at Highway 23 Monday evening. Total damage listed at $700. North Halton OPP Const. Dave Hardy investigated. A north bound car driven by Gloria Lindsay of Rockwood was turning into Kelly's Service Station when it struck the south bound car driven by Charles William Mulford of Toronto. Baker was a passenger in the Mulford vehicle.

Acton Council Sells Alice Street Property to Hydro
Acton council approved the sale of the Alice Street parcel bordering the hydro building to the Acton Hydro Commission for 1000 and authorized a 3500 purchase of A C Braida property on Main Street South adjoining the water tower. The meeting also set wage scales retroactive to 1960 and approved department consolidation of sewer and water under a new foreman.
