Re elect Lloyd McEnery President For 1960 Agricultural Society
Lloyd McEnery was reelected president to head the 1960 Acton Fall Fair during the annual meeting held January 30 in the council chambers. Officers named to assist him, and several directors, were retained from last year. The 1960 fair is planned for September 16-17 at Acton Park. A diploma for meritorious service in agriculture was presented to Dr. F. G. Oakes, with praise for the board and calls to strengthen the association. The meeting noted a slight deficit for the coming season and highlighted strong exhibitor interest and a record poultry show.

Tragic Erin High School Bus Train Crash Near Hillsburgh
A Erie district high school bus carrying 28 students was struck by a freight train at a level crossing near Hillsburgh, 13 miles north of Acton. Three students Karen Awrey Donna Jackson Gudrun Koch and the bus driver Calvin Leitch died. others were injured as flames engulfed the bus and passengers escaped through the emergency door.

Tonight at Scout Hall the films Will be shown to boy scouts cubs and girl guides. Nearly 200 veterans and guests attended Branch 7 Legion’s annual dinner on Friday January 29 in the Legion auditorium.
