The Acton United Church of Canada announces morning services led by Rev. R. E. Zimmerman with the sermon “If a man dig, shall he live again” at 11.00 am Sabbath School follows at 2.30 pm and the evening service at 7.00 pm on the theme “Other Little Ships”. Olde Tyme Village Quartette Concert on Monday night at 8.16 pm and a Prayer and Praise Service Thursday at 7.30 pm.
The Acton church announces 11 00 p m sermon by Rev A C Stewart M A on Soul Thirst with 2 00 p m Sabbath School and Bible Classes and 7 00 p m the minister speaks on Discipline. Acton Troop Boy Scouts attend Monday 7 30 p m Young People Guild presents a musical programme. Strangers with address will be called upon by the Pastor.
The Baptist Church led by Pastor Acton James W Boyd announces services and classes. Evening sermons explore themes such as The Contactor of the Christian's Love and Worth of Our Father. Youth meeting scheduled Monday 8 pm and prayer meeting Thursday 7 pm. All welcome.

Ottawa reports that the Liberal government was sustained by a majority of three votes in the House, defeating Meighen's censure and non confidence amendment. Seventeen Progressives, two Independents, Bourassa, and two Labor members backed Prime Minister Mackenzie King, after the October election. The vote affirmed the electorate's intent to retain office until Parliament could convene. Charlies Macdonald resigned to clear the way for King, with official nomination set for February 1 and potential ratification February 16. The adjournment followed, as Ernest Lapointe led the government in debating the Speech from the Throne.
The first regular meeting of Acton High School Literary Society featured President George Mason guiding a varied program. Margaret Brown gave a piano solo, Gladys Scarrow and Marjorie Switzer performed an instrumental duet, Helen Littley read a Canadian poet, Raullive Johnson, and others presented poems and recitations. Rev Baugh praised the youths for public speaking and urged Stand up Speak up Shut up as the motto. The event closed with the national anthem.
A local hockey league schedule lists Acton Tanning Co Beardmore Belting Co Beardmore Co Hewertson and Town teams. Games run Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm from January through February with final standings and relegation for the bottom two teams.
In Alliston the council voted to prohibit billiard and pool rooms for the year. Mayor Knight asked for delay to gauge public sentiment, but the motion carried after a show of hands following a long dispute in past years.

Acton Fall Fair held a council chamber meeting on a January Wednesday. President Wm Johnstone announced a successful 1925 outlook after a year of poor fairs and the auditors reported a credit balance of 26.65 plus Victory Bonds. Gifts from G T Beardmore valued at 400 improved assets along with renewed commitment from members to duties. The board reduced its size to twenty from Acton and ten from surrounding townships. George Havill and Allex Waldie named life members. Officers include President Johnstone Vice-President Duncan McDouree 2nd Vice-President R J Kerr. Directors listed with many names and honorary directors and auditors confirmed.
Oswald Branch of Bowmanville was jailed for fourteen days at Whitby jail for drunken driving. In Milton, F King of Georgetown paid ten dollars fine plus costs for public intoxication after a hockey trip. Joe Durante’s liquor case was upheld by Judge Spotton with three months jail for nonpayment. Keenan of Toronto fined sixty dollars for possessing liquor after a disturbance in Milton.
Nassagaweya Council held its inaugural meeting on the 11th with all members present. Minutes show accounts passed for sanitary inspector Colin McPhail and others, plus appropriation for 1925 ready and bridges grant of 96,492. The by law appoints town officers and the clerk is to order Municipal World issues. Meeting adjourned to February 8. Knox Church Choir Concert Friday evening January 29.
