Ontario Angling Licences and Backpatch rules outlined
Ontario requires resident angling licences for all males 16 and over for ice fishing with a $3 yearly fee and a $1 licence for personal use smelt. A regular angling licence does not cover smelt netting. A numbered backpatch for hunting was introduced September 1968, worn on the back with conspicuous color, not on caps, to help identify violators. Compliance urged under Game and Fish Act Section 348 with a four month warning period ending December 1968.
