Fire Destroys Craven Home Near Acton in Snowbound Lane
Firefighters could not reach the Craven residence five miles north of Acton as deep snow blocked the long lane. Mr and Mrs Floyd Craven and their three children escaped from beds to a car but the house and its contents were destroyed, fueled by two oil tanks. Neighbors helped salvage a few possessions before the blaze fully consumed the remodelled structure.

Unusual crash tied to parked cars on Acton streets
OPP notes two minor accidents last week in Acton. A 1967 Dodge taxi driven by Don Grein and a 1969 Pontiac with Patricia Bowles collided at Glenlea plaza when Bowles backed up unseen. Damages were $30 and $20 respectively. An unusual crash on Main St S involved a 1963 Chevrolet owned by James Morrison and a 1960 VW owned by William Dustan, both parked, with a third unknown vehicle involved. damage included $75 to the Volkswagen and $50 to the Morrison car. The third driver left the scene unaware of the impact.
