Fined for Accident and Drunkenness in Local Court
T involved in an accident near Acton on Saturday January 27. George Williamson pleaded guilty to careless driving and was fined $10 plus costs. Two men arrested Friday for drunkenness each fined $10 and costs, one also fined $10 for liquor in possession. Three other men fined for liquor in a place other than their dwelling.

Four Jets of Water Cross Fairy Lake in Fire Equipment Visit
Acton councillors and the town fire brigade tested a LaFrance pumpers unit as part of “Operation Firetruck” at Fairy Lake. Serious injuries after early morning panel truck crash near Speyside
Douglas of Acton sustained a fractured skull and was taken by ambulance to Guelph General Hospital after his 1980 Ford panel truck left Highway 25 south of Speyside hit a snowbank and crashed into an elm. The wreck caused about $1000 damage to the vehicle.

A London funeral honored Albert G. Robertson a noted biology specialist who founded the University of Western Ontario biology department and retired in 1948 after 30 years. He was born in Erin Township and educated at Ospring, Georgetown, Guelph and Toronto. Hunters Fail To Bag Wolves Near Acton In Rainy One Day Hunt
A district hunt near Acton organized by Conservation Officer Gordon Matthews and Nassagaweya officials drew about fifty hunters from Acton, Rockwood, Guelph. They split into two groups along the Nassagaweya two creases and searched from June six to nine. Two wolves were sighted but no kills occurred as weather worsened and packs of six to seven wolves remained at large. Veteran hunter Dave Mennan called wolves sly and warned of increasing stock losses in the district.
