Fifty Years of Married Life for Erin Township Couple
On February 15 1887 Rev George Munroe joined J H Smith and his wife in matrimony at the Wm Burt property in Erin Township. The couple later settled on the Room farm and have lived on their Erin homestead for nearly five decades before retiring to Acton. Daughters Mrs Cochrane of Windsor and Mrs McDonald of Galt send regrets for not attending and many friends offered congratulations.

Acton High School held its first literary program of the term with performances by Form II students Frances Dills Myrna Rawson Donalda McPhail and others. The skit 1967 featured a large cast and the cast sang Auld Lang Syne. Doris Wilson Hazel Wilson Pat Harrop and Wilma Hansen provided musical numbers and the Eye Opener was read in two parts.

Thieves Try New Racket At Acton Store
Two men attempted a shoplifting racket at Pallant's clothing store in Acton on Friday. One watched the door while the other moved goods to a car, later seen in Brampton where one was captured. Spokesman Howard Chase of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers announced that 117,000 Canadian railway workers are considering a countrywide strike if the proposed 10 percent pay restoration is not met.
