Wellington plow to clear seventh and second lines

Fire destroys farm home at Crewsons Corners
Fire completely leveled the two story frame home of Mr Jerry Taylor at Crewsons Corners on Tuesday afternoon. The elderly caregiver suffered facial and arm burns and was taken to hospital in Guelph after medical aid. Fire originated in the rear kitchen and, aided by a east wind, engulfed the entire building and contents. Fire brigade arrived but could not halts the blaze due to no water. Mr Taylor slowly recovering in hospital.

Slid From Snow Bank Struck by Car on Highway 25
Flora Meleane eight year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Allan Meleane escaped serious injury after sliding from a snow bank on Highway 25 south of Acton into the path of a car. The driver Mr ClarkeHousted Ave Toronto was driving slowly and freed Flora before the vehicle ran over her. She received treatment at Acton and returned home.

Acton Soldier Wounded in Holland Mine Explosion
Mr and Mrs OW Appleyard of Church Street announce their son, Sgt Donald Appleyard, was wounded in Holland by a mine explosion. Enlisted January 1940, he went overseas August 1940 with the 44th Battery, 12th Field Regiment. His wife lives in England and he has five brothers. Family hopes for improvement.
