Acton District Holds Eighth Med Cross Clinic Record

The Acton district held its eighth Med Cross clinic on Tuesday with 37 new donors and 13 Silver Buttons plus 33 Bronze Buttons awarded for donations. Volunteers from Acton and adjoining districts contributed to the event, aiding war relief efforts and saving lives at the frontline.

Ted Perkins son of Harold Perkins enlists in the army and is stationed at Crmtham. Herb Drow joins the Gat lan Army stationed at Or Wa. Marshall enlisted this week and is stationed at Exhibition Barracks Toronto as the fourth son of Ear Marshall. LAC Allan Marehall stationed at Trenton and Pte Robt Marshall at Camp Borden. Pte Jaren Marehall served fifteen months in Italy with the Sea forth Highlanders. A fifth Marshall son rejected from all three service branches for medical reasons.

February Meeting of Esquesing Township Council

The February meeting of Esquesing Township Council was held on Monday afternoon with Deputy Reeve George B. Cleave and Councillors George Carne HL May and Ron Beown present. Reeve G W Murray presided. Accounts for relief and stamps were reviewed and approved. Road operation bills and a bylaw for reed expenditure were read and passed. council adjourned until March or at the Reeve’s call.

Transfer Funds from Waterworks To General Account

The Acton Pub Lee UCities Commission met Monday with MacHaneen Ro MacArthur and Keeve J OM McDonald present. They approved transferring funds from the Waterworks Department to the General Account to protect meters, with notes on winter charges and payment accounts from Waterworks and various suppliers including Northern Electric and Sutherland Schultz Electric.

Mann Saved Officer On Normandy Beach D Day Hero

Royal Canadian Artillery NCO Mann, 19, enlisted in London Ontario in 1940 and trained in Sussex New Brunswick. He carried a wounded Captain Brantford to the beach during D Day and sent news to his parents in Fergus and Acton. He sailed overseas July 1941 and served in England France Belgium and Holland.

Former Actonian Awarded Purple Heart and Emblem

Mrs Frank Kelly of Marnn Street Acton has learned her son Private First Class William Kelly serving in France has been awarded the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster for a mesh wound to the left side of the head and left shoulder. The injury healed well and he returned to the lines. Kelly was born in Acton and spent his boyhood there before joining the American Army.
