Lone thief robs 70-year-old farmer near Acton
Thomas Storey, a 70-year-old farmer four miles from Acton in Nassagaweya Township, was beaten and bound by a lone robber on Wednesday night. The attacker fled with $17 after threatening a hot poker branding. Neighbor Edward Watt found Storey Thursday afternoon bound and in need of help.

Council heard W R Norton outline Ford built American LaFrance fire apparatus with chemical tanks on chassis and a trailer mounted unit. The pumper on a Ford chassis could deliver 420 gallons per minute from water sources. the trailer unit offered 200 gpm. Costs ranged from 3800 dollars to 1900 dollars for the trailer option, with multiple municipalities already using similar gear. Council delayed any purchase until spring for demonstrations. The Eramosa Township council met February 12 in Rockwood with all members present and the chair as reeve. They accepted the resignation of James W. Benham as Road Superintendent and advertised for a successor. Auditors reported for 1939 and were commended. Annual report of the Board of Health adopted. The highway department asked to extend the 1939 grown contract into 1940. A committee was formed to consider Road Superintendent appointment. By-law No 5 passed appointing Percy. Toronto Dentist Seriously Injured in Streetcar Collision
Dr J Allan Priestman a Toronto dentist of 57 Hilton Avenue was seriously injured in a head on crash between his car and a streetcar at Balliol and Yonge Street. He suffered head injuries and was taken to Toronto General Hospital. The accident occurred on icy pavement as his vehicle skidded and wedged under the streetcar delaying service about 25 minutes.
