Acton Tanners trade blows with Clarke’s Toronto, finishing 7-7 as Keith Scott sustains a jaw fracture and is sidelined. Guelph’s O.A.C. loses 10-3 to Acton with Norm Morton Terry Lindsay and Morton leading the scoring for Acton. Playoffs for Group 6 set Acton at Oakville, with return match at Acton next Tuesday.
Acton Public Utilities Commission met and heard that 90 000 gallons of water were pumped for the Kennedy fire on Wednesday night. The pump was kept ready, and two meters were destroyed with two saved in the blaze. Chas Wilson reported on a Toronto convention and officers arranged payments and an acting chairman appointment.
Fire gutted a large frame house owned by Fred Packer in Esquesing near Limehouse. Miss Gladys Packer found the blaze in a storeroom on Friday and neighbors limited the damage while saving most furniture. A nearby barn was threatened but escaped. Damage estimated over 4000 dollars.
Keith Scott of the Acton Intermediates suffered a fractured jaw and deep facial cut after colliding with A Clarke during Saturday night play. He was treated at Guelph Hospital by Dr. Nelson and returned home Tuesday. He is expected to miss tonight's Oakville match but aims to rejoin Tuesday’s group final.
Acton Y M C A members A Aason and G A Pills chosen to represent Acton on the National Council meeting in Hamilton. H Ballantyne, secretary, attends. Acton among four new branches welcomed at the Dominion-wide gathering. Plans for the local building funds and podial room progress noted. The YMCA hours and policy details discussed. A $10,000 building completed last spring and opened. A part time secretary engaged and programs expanding with potential expansion to Crampton, Georgetown, and Fergus under one director.
The Township of Eramosa council met February 10 with Reeve D H Storey chair. Auditors Arch McNabb and J H Fox presented the report noting receipts of 523,328.04 and expenditures of 51,551.75 for year ending December 1, 1935 with a balance of 787.10. Bank balances total 1,343.29 and the township shows no debenture debt aside from school and hydro obligations.
The O H A faces criticism for delaying final Intermediate group games pushing the winner to February 18. Officials shifted from a single winner game to home and home clashes, with schedule tweaks raising questions about influence from other leagues and the impact on Oakville Guelph playoffs.
The Scout Mothers' Auxiliary met at Mr. and Mrs. W. George Mason's home Monday evening with Mrs. Br. Jarsurd presiding. Mrs. George Hall delivered the treasurer's report and Mrs. Perry Watson called the roll. A recitation by Mrs. Roney titled Little Orphan Annie delighted attendees and a word forming contest, won by Mrs. George Somerville, provided lively entertainment. County refreshments followed, and George Musial offered beauting wand explanations and summer plans.
The annual meeting of the Ace Volunteer Fire Brigade elected Chief BR. McDonald for another term. Deputy Chief John McArthur, Captain of Truck Fred Crewxon, and secretary Wilke were named with other officers confirmed by acclamation.
The regular monthly Women’s Institute gathering at Mrs. R. L. Davidson’s home was led by President Mrs. Gamble. A five minute motto talk, YMCA room fund appeal, current events, a white elephant parade, and lunch followed with thanks to hosts.
At a county council session, the council approves a plan for the Children’s Aid Society and agrees to pay half of maintenance costs. It also approves a new measure to have ratepayers cut weeds along roadway borders but defers action on enforcement.
Halton County Council held its second meeting in Milton with all members present except Mr Finney Nassagaweya. Reports covered education and road expenditures with decisions on school board resignations and a 14000 09 payment to Oakville High School Board. Weather hampered travel and a weed-cutting bylaw was discussed but deferred.
The Esquesing Council meeting on February 10th approved relief accounts totaling 568.87 dollars as presented by the Relief Officer. The session included oath of allegiance to King Edward VIII, updates from department heads, and discussions on warble fly treatment and road removal.
Brampton residents were injured in a head on collision on No 10 highway north of Brampton Sunday. James Davis driver of the truck faced reckless driving charges. he suffered broken ribs and right side bruising. Charles Rowley a passenger had a severe head laceration and was sent to Peel Memorial Hospital. Dr W M Dryden the newly appointed Peel coroner survived thanks to a derby saved him from injury. Davis allegedly tried to pass another car at the time.
A Toronto bound car carrying Dr Geo Dixon swung onto Main Street on Saturday, crashed through a bridge railing and hung over a creek. None were injured. Driver Minnie Dixon and passenger May east were unhurt. Guards were damaged and the car heavily damaged. Chief McPheron investigated the incident. Another vehicle had passed earlier without damage as it stopped in the snow at road edge.

Also advertised are rehearsals for The Arlona Cowboy play March 4 and 5 staged by Acton Lawn Bowling and Venus Club with a long cast list and venue Acton Town Hall.
