Thieves Break Into Gas Station and Blow’s Victims
Police investigated two burglaries Thursday of last week at Jack McCalum's Service station and Blow's Press. Entry was gained by smashed windows. cigarettes and cigars valued near 25 dollars were stolen from the gas station, while Blow's press lost about 2 dollars from a pop machine and cash. total damage estimated at 20 dollars. Corporal Ray Mason and constable Bruce Kressler led the investigation.

Department of Education launches a 10 week math course at M. Z. Bennett school led by principal Ebner Smith. Over 100 parents requested enrollment but only 40 can be accommodated due to auditorium space. classes held every Wednesday with Mr. Smith and staff. Enrollees include local parents, rural residents, and teenagers. enrollment limited to parents of pupils in grades five to eight. Lessons began February 2 under Smith’s guidance.

Three-Day Convention Of Ontario Weeklies
The Ontario Weekly Newspapers Association held a three day convention at the Royal York Hotel Toronto with about 200 attendees. David Dills was named president and Ken Glendinning of Delhi News Record succeeded him as president elect. Guest speakers included Ross Strike Clyde Magee and W Archbeld. The Acton W.E met at the home of Mrs. Earl Lambert and opened with the Institute Ode and Collect. Members wore vegetable corsages or donated for groceries as door prizes. Ashgrove WI marks 40th anniversary at Georgetown St John’s Church on February 15 with invites. The Milton fall fair considered a display for a little girl’s birthday. Mrs. R. L. Davidson spoke about Britain’s youngest W.E. president at 17. Mrs. Denny sent a poem titled Today is Ours. Davidson read about Arthur Rockwood, 75, a British farmer supplying markets in London, Newcastle and Birmingham with 100 tractors and 440 trucks across 2000 acres of carrots and 980 potatoes among other crops and livestock. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cutts shared photos from their England and Calgary trip, including a 7500 feet mountain lift, charming England scenes and favorite locales.
