At Acton annual meeting January 29 HY Stanley welcomed members and presided over officer elections. Jack Marshall was reelected president for a second year, with Calvin Aitken first vice president Wilmer Fryer and Fred Kentner Jr. second vice president and Mrs CC W Swackhamer as secretary treasurer. Directors were chosen from 35 nominations to form the 1966 executive, along with life members and honorary directors. The financial success of the fair was praised, with plans for the 1966 event and the Centennial Year Project noted.

Weekend thieves smashed a window at Paul’s Sunoco Station on the easterly edge of town Saturday night and took about $35 in tools and $50 in cash from a vending machine. A second attempt occurred at Little Motors across the road the same evening, driven off by a watchdog. Monday morning Harold Manes of LG A store found back doors tampered with and a wrecked truck part in the lot used in the attempt. Constable Bruce McArthur is overseeing the case.

Acton Planning Board at its inaugural meeting rejected two applications. Jack Van Der Kooy sought rezoning to run an electrical shop and showroom on Main Street near River Street. Hydro commissioners reviewed a cost breakdown for wiring in Lakeview subdivision to service all remaining lots. Estimates show complete underground wiring at 15,269 plus conduit, versus overhead options with street lighting costing 7,759 for overhead, 4,659 for underground lights, or 1,653.34 for mixed street lights with overhead poles. Presently, the installation is overhead secondary lines with underground street lighting.
