Burns Supper Held at Knox Church Friday
The Knox Church Ladies Aid hosted their annual Burns supper with Piper Findley of Toronto leading the Haggis procession. Rev. Edgar Foreman gave the Burns blessing and showed pictures of Burns home. A hot supper followed, then a musical program featuring piano guitar and vocal solos, duets, and a National Anthem finale.

Corp Bayliss Arrives Home From Overseas
Corp Geo Bayliss has returned home after four and a half years in the army including three and a half years overseas. He was wounded on June 20 and again in October from bomb fragments in the throat and chest. A star defence man on the 1938 39 Acton Championship Intermediate Hockey team, he is welcomed by his parents Mr and Mrs Ben Bayliss and a host of friends.

War Service League Report Shows Cash Receipts And Expenditures
Acton and Vicinity War Service League presented a balance sheet showing total receipts of 315 489.00 including salvage donations bingo and other income. The year’s expenses covered cigarettes comforts entertainment and church charity contributions with a final bank balance of 1 522.95 and donations noted from several local groups and individuals. Perryman reported Killed in Action near Acton
Deeply regret to inform you that Lance Corporal Allan Perryman 1B135036 is now officially reported killed in action August 1944. The Perryman family of Acton, including his brother Elwood in Italy and sisters in Guelph, mourn his loss. Allan enlisted November 1942, served with invasion forces on D Day, was wounded July 2 and returned, then went missing before the official notice arrived.
