Big Stock Loss In Erin Fire
A barn fire at William Donaldson’s lot 7 on Highway 10 in Erin killed thirty Jersey cows fifteen calves and three horses and destroyed train and farm implements. The loss runs to several thousand dollars with cattle once used for show. Origins of the blaze are unknown and firefighting equipment was lacking delaying efforts to save stock. This marks Donaldson’s third fire in recent years after his homestead burned two years ago.

At the monthly meeting of Acton Public School Board Trustees President J M McDonald presided. The Finance Committee approved payments to Ontario Library Book Co Blue Ribbon Ink Co and others. The Principal’s requisition for books and supplies was approved. The Secretary to hire men to move and tune a plane at the high school. Miss Bell thanked the board for arranging Toronto trip transportation for Third Form pupils after an earlier date error. Prices for a filing cabinet were requested. Heating system improvements and fuel savings were discussed for future action.

Magistrate Doulas Davidson Dies Suddenly at 71
York County magistrate Doulas Davidson, longtime presiding officer of police courts, died Monday in his seventy second year after a brief illness. He served 32 years in York courts and was funeralized at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto. A Montreal native, he began as a teacher in Toronto before becoming an accountant and later secretary at Hospital for Sick Children.

Dr G A McQuibban Dies Sudden in Toronto
Dr George A McQuibban dies after a heart attack suffered Friday in Toronto at age fifty. Born in Ingersoll September 2 1886 he studied at Harriston High School and University of Toronto where he earned his MB. A Liberal legislator first elected 1926 and re elected 1929 and 1934 he led the Liberal caucus in 1934. He practiced with his brother in Alma and was famed for influenza era service and horse hobby including Eli4il lyree and Mr Gaiety. Funeral in Alma Presbyterian Church attended by cabinet ministers and lawmakers.
