Appointments Made to County Hospital Boards
Halton County Council named three men to area hospital boards during December. Frank N. Rogers won a seat at Josph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, J. M. Ledwith joined Milton Dees Hospital Board, and Arant joined Geneaean Bistrice Memorial Hospital Board. The county also delegated its engineer and clerk to attend a January road safety workshop.

Beartmore plant hosts joyful Christmas party for employees and families
Beartmore's Beardesosve and Co held its annual Christmas party Saturday drawing 400 plus adults and 270 children. Santa Claus arrived with Cathy Smith and Rosemary Bird handing out gifts while youngsters enjoyed cartoons, games, and a food lineup from Abbott's Hutch to Pietro's Pizzeria. Mexican rancheros Cisco and Pancho mingled with the crowd.
M Z Bennett volleyballers win North Halton title
The Acton based M Z Bennett school girls volleyball team won the North Halton series title, defeating rivals from Milton and Stewarttown. Coach Dave Boycott led the champions as the school celebrated its first volleyball crown following the addition of a new auditorium for practice.

Annual supper and Christmas concert at Acton Baptist church
The Acton Baptist church held its annual Christmas concert on Saturday December 13. A turkey dinner was prepared by church women. The evening featured skits and songs by church groups and individual performers including the BHLF, Landsborough and Paul Cooper, and Feltham. Gifts were distributed to children at the end, spreading Christmas cheer.

Two Car Crashes Reported by Acton O P P This Week
Two minor two car accidents occurred as Acton O P P investigated last week despite icy snowy roads. On December 17 a pickup backed from Church Street hit a car on Arthur Street fender damage about seventy five dollars with no charges. On December 18 at Main Street North and Elizabeth Drive a left turning Georgetown driver rear end and front bumper damage estimated at two cars totaling about one hundred seventy five dollars.

Four youths in court on break-in charges
Four youths appeared in juvenile court charged with a lengthy series of break-ins. One awaiting sentence, one with a suspended term, and two on probation for 18 months and two years respectively. The court ordered restitution.
Christmas Band Concert Delights Large Acton Audience
The Acton items Hand Christmas concert drew the largest crowd at the high school auditorium. Guest artists were the Royal Canadian Legion Choraliers, with six year old Chen Lindsay singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Soloist John Ett hs tenor wife in a dreamland medley impressed. Dr. George Elliott led a varied program of Christmas, marches and popular tunes. Highlights included the Syncopated Clock, R A March Past and Christmas Around the World. Commentary by Elliott and Bull Buchanan. The Chevaliers sang five selections under Gear Massile with Malcolm introducing numbers. The event marked the male chorus 70th performance at 35 venues. Dave Harris accompanied at the piano. Beginners class also performed two numbers. Refreshments were served at intermission.
