Acton post office halts sale of new six cent Christmas stamps due to missing imprint issues. Of 400 stamps without the black imprinting, 209 recovered and an estimated 191 may still be out in circulation. Four extra staff Ebien Holmes Nan Reed Marnie Mellor and Diane Butler assist with the rush as Canada Christmas Noe Noël 6 1969 stamps are recalled for checking.
Acton merchants prepare for the last Santa Rama draw this Saturday afternoon. The total prize pool is now $150 in cash vouchers, up from $100, and the ale prize rises from $30 to $50.
Acton Chamber of Commerce schedules its annual dinner for January 21 at Halton Heights Country Club. A bus service is planned to shuttle attendees both ways. Officers will be elected, and members are urged to pick up and return survey forms. Prize vouchers crown top winners with a Santa Rama draw and Eramosa Flower Mart prizes announced. Nassagaweya Acton and Deputy Reeve Tom Hill opposed.

Mayor Les Duby warned a six million dollar budget cut could block six of seven phones in Churchill Rd North subdivision, delaying homes. Hydro Commission members urged cooperation and tree-trimming oversight as Bell cites funding issues.
A local woman will receive 229.12 after Acton Hydro agreed to reimburse her for a double charge on a water heater bill. Since June 1964 she paid a flat rate plus metered rate. a new heater revealed the overcharge. Commissioner MacArthur supported the rebate as the commission found the error.
The town office invites donations for Christmas gifts with no need for wrapping. Clerk administrator Jon Hurst notes a DDT disposal issue as DDT will be accepted at the town office on Thursday and Friday while awaiting provincial guidance on its future use.
An accident on Queen Street at BP car watch involved two cars Friday morning. Drivers Stewart Brown of Toronto and Bul Lenina Acton sustained damages estimated at $250. Police say the Toronto car skidded on wet pavement as the other car returned into traffic.
Planning board criticized lack of liaison with council as two representatives were absent during a Thursday meeting. They questioned why council referred the proposal back to committee and objected to Project Planning Associates missing from discussions. The board supported delaying approval for a plaza at Queen Archill corner and called for more detail on the Orr property development including access, buffers, and sewer plans.
