Nassagaweya News Supper and Christmas Party Notes
Nassagaweyva No. 7 Supper and Shasumas concert at Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church drew families to a Sunday School room for a hearty supper. Certificates were awarded to Lorraine Core, Helen Dredge, Jim Hatcher, and Douglas Dredge for memorizing the primary catechism. Santa Claus handed out candy and oranges, with a Do You Remember? tone easing into the Nativity program. The evening included carols, a white elephant gift exchange, and decor demonstrations. A candlelight service at Ebenezer United Church drew a sizable local crowd, followed by a social hour and lunch at the home of Mr and Mrs Pringle. Special guests from Toronto attended, and January 22 was set to discuss Marketing boards. Merry Christmas to Acton Free Press readers.

Women’s Missionary Society Holds December Parsonage Meeting
The December meeting of the Women’s Missionary Society of the United Church met at the parsonage on Tuenley with good attendance. Mrs Arnolds chaired, Rev Currey led devotions with Christmas carols, and Mrs McArthur spoke on the Birth of Christ. Officers and committee roles were announced, prayers offered for Rev Currey, and thanks given for hospitality and 1987 service.

Council discussed arena staffing and funding, street lighting, and water main extensions. Items included hiring an arena manager, organizing civil defense, and approving a borrowing note of 8000 dollars for waterworks while addressing drainage and lighting complaints.
Acton Mayor Honored by 1950 Council in Year’s Tribute
Reeve Tyler presented Mayor Mason, the town’s first mayor, with a black leather billfuld on behalf of the 1950 council for his work in the past year. Mayor Mason thanked the council for its cooperation and tribute to him as the fine mayor. Councillors Greer Thompson Hargrave Hotchen Roarell and Reeve Tyler attended.
