Crown appeal overturns acquittal in Pelletier case
Judge W N Robinson reversed Magistrate Langdon on a Crown appeal and convicted George Pelletier of obstructing police. Pelletier fined 25 dollars and costs 86 dollars. Crown Attorney Lloyd C Dingle led the appeal after Langdon dismissed the charge. Constable Leonard Chambers testified of a Main St Georgetown incident where Pelletier allegedly struck him in the chest and jaw. four other witnesses supported the appeal. The judge found Pelletier intoxicated.

Bantam Club Receives Halton County Trophy Jackets
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion hosted Acton Bantam Baseball Club with a turkey dinner last Friday night. They presented blanket cloth jackets crests and the Halton County Bantam Championship trophy to the players. League President P McMullen handed over the trophy and crest while Clarence Riddell spoke on baseball. John Gay echoed plans for the new club president, Dr Sirrs presented the jackets and acted as master of ceremonies. An orchestra including L McSwain Jack Blow Ken Blow and E Bilton provided entertainment for about 25 attendees.

Trucks Collide At Mill and Main Corner
A Jong tractor trailer failed to turn at Mill and Main and collided with a Bell Telephone truck driven by Norman Cunningham of Guelph. No injuries reported. The Concrete Pipe Ltd. tractor, driven by Howard Cox of Downsview, owned the pipe, and damage was about 60 dollars. Constable Wylie investigated.
