The Acton Women’s Institute held its December meeting hosted by Mrs. W Marchment. President Mrs. Lappin led activities including a Christmas gift roll call, tree display, readings by Mrs. Earl Lambert, current events by Mr. Jack Wilds, and highlights of the Guelph Area Convention given by Mrs. Fred Anderton. Members shared carols, gifts, a mystery Penny cake donated by Mrs. Hunter, and a lunch prepared by the Social Group led by Mrs. Lantz and assisted by others.

Sgt. Matt A Tyler of Acton returned home from the war wounded after serving in Canada’s army since 1910. He arrived on a hospital ship after sustaining injuries on August 17 and is recovering in Acton with family awaiting further medical reassessment in Toronto.

Slippery Streets Cause Collision on Macdonnell Street
An RCAF station wagon and a car collided on Macdonnell Street near the YWCA in Guelph around 3.25 pm. The Air Force vehicle was driven by LAW P. E. Watson of No 4 Wireless School. the other car was owned and driven by Ralph F. McKeown, 18, of Acton. Police Sergeant Frederick Minshall and PC Robert Warden investigated.
