A trio of women conducted a shopping survey in Lakeview this week asking if residents shop out of town and if local grocery search is sufficient. They refused to identify their employer and said the Collinswood survey was their source, adding the questions may not mean anything.
Ledger IGA plans extended Thursday evening hours this week as part of a proposal by the Acton Chamber of Commerce Retail Section. Downtown merchants split on keeping stores open in July August, with some resisting and others leaning toward compliance if a majority supports it.
Acton High School announces seven new teachers joining the staff for the upcoming year. Principal Hansen also notes revised class and grade assignments, with counseling setups for all students before term start and details on course planning and interviews.
Five people were injured when a two car collision on Highway 26 near Acton occurred Saturday afternoon. A northbound car driven by Obain O McAleer of Mill Street Acton swerved to avoid a southbound vehicle, causing a rear-end crash with John Willham Pitts of Long Sault. Mrs Joan Pitts was hospitalized with severe injuries. other occupants sustained lacerations and bruises. Milton OPP estimated $800 in damage.
Halton County's 1 338 farms produced 14 048 075 worth of crops livestock and produce in 1964 setting a county record. The Ontario Department of Agriculture released a 140 page survey compiled with 60 000 farmers and the report covers dairy livestock and field crops across Halton and parts of Wentworth. Livestock totaled 649 020 head valued at 6 531 832 an increase in animal numbers, while fruit and vegetables rose to 3 776 093 in value. Field crops used 72 670 acres yielding 2 093 540 bushels and 121 900 tons valued at 3 740 150.

London based Meo Raphael who once fought bulls in Spain has retired from bullfighting to join a ranch run styling program. Mary Palmory daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Pastore of RR 2 Rockwood graduates August 27 from South Water for McDonald Hospital Galt as nurse. She reports starting duty September 14 at General Hospital in Ponce Rupert BC. She attended local public school and Guelph area schools. She has older sister Kay and younger siblings Atlantic Dan and Patty still in school.
Old pupils recall Greenock school’s closing and 1906 community boom. The era included concerts, debates, socials, and a donated library. After World War I the Women's Institute continued events while the town preserves the site’s memory in band and civic activities.
