Road system wear threatens costly future upkeep
County Engineer Dr. Corbett warned councillors that the road system is wearing out at a pace that will demand substantially higher expenditures to meet traffic needs. He urged expanding engineering staff to handle more design and supervision as development and heavy traffic grow, noting one road needs up to $800,000 to carry heavier loads despite repairs. Current budgets show $650,000 yearly, with costs between $400,000 and $500,000 per mile on some stretches.

Budget cuts force patch work on Ninth Line Road
Esquesing Township councillors and the roads foreman reviewed the budget and found no funds for major resurfacing. A one mile tarvia patch is planned at 700 to 800 dollars, while a full oil and stone resurfacing would cost 1400 dollars but is unaffordable. Supplemental provincial grants may reach 27 000 to 30 000 dollars, yet monthly maintenance and outstanding accounts will consume all funds.
