Despite rain and wind Peanut Bay of Acton Rotary kept the fundraiser going. Planter's Peanut Day drew Acton and district residents with a Peanut Queen float parade and tag day in front of the post office. The peanut guess was 193 810. winner Pat Patrick guessed 198 000. Funds go to Rotary community service aiding crippled children.

Hydro Men Replace Old Transformer After Fire Hit
On Sunday Richard Harris alerted Guelph Hydro after spotting smoke from a transformer during rounds to church furnaces. Hydro staff replaced the old unit. sympathy is extended to Mr Mev HL Bennie on Rev HL Bennie’s death. River level rose after heavy rains, flooding the old bowling green.

Obituary of Rev Bennie Former Knox minister dies in Acton
Reverend Bennie, long time Knox church leader in Acton from 1930 to 1948, died at his home in Acton after a long ministry across Ontario and Nova Scotia. Born in Scotland in 1887, he studied at Edinburgh Trinity College Dublin and Knox College, began ministry in 1915, and served Grafton Vernonville Uxbridge Mitchell Halifax Elmira Dart Englehart and Acton where he had his longest pastorate. He leaves wife two daughters a son and several relatives in Britain and four grandchildren. The funeral was held at Knox church with a service led by the Moderator of Guelph Presbytery.

Six Vehicles Three Accidents Saturday Report
A foggy Saturday on No 7 highway produced a chain of incidents involving six vehicles and three crashes. Leslie Vickery of RR 7 Guelph drove a Gay Coach and stalled as he tried to pass a car led to a collision. no one was injured. Police reported about $500 damage as vehicles followed one another and braked suddenly in the treacherous conditions.

Halton County Children's Aid Society heard that while the county population, especially in the south, rises rapidly, family problems have not risen accordingly. Superintendent GF Thompson noted many issues center on young couples as the society aims to give children greater opportunities. The meeting in Milton featured music by St Jude's Oakville choir and remarks by Mr Coughlan on probation, prison reform, and penology.
