The Acton branch celebrated its anniversary with a program and tea at the church, drawing 105 registrants from Halton area institutes. Highlights included corsages, a guest speaker, a history of the branch, and a large blue and gold cake.
Nearly 180 attend Acton Legion banquet marking the second curling season. Chester Anderson elected president for 1963-64. Wes Beatty prior president thanks members and pledges support. John Gay's committee names include Gordon Cooper and Jim Inglis. Mortgages cleared by Beardmore offer. Adams trophy winners named. various prizes awarded in men and mixed leagues.
The notice explains clocks will turn back one hour on October 77 at 2:00 am and later turn ahead again at 12:81 am to begin Daylight Saving Time for summer. Gardeners fishermen hunters and other tradespeople will enjoy longer daylight hours.

The 24 year old bride arrived in Malton on Friday and will marry Monday at Knox Church Acton, with Rev. A H McKenzie officiating. Theresa Yee will be her Canadian name among locals.
Council turned down an application by Eugene Braida to locate J B Ledger operations in vacant buildings on Longfield Road, former Corona Shoe site, citing bylaws and lack of authority to override existing restrictions. Meetings will continue on disposal and charter issues for town buildings and YMCA matters as winter costs rise.
The Halton County Fire Prevention Bureau studies a by law to impose fines on culprits of grass fires. At the April meeting members noted fines in other municipalities and plan to ask Hatton County Council to consider adopting a similar tactic. Grass fires cost taxpayers over 30000 in spring wages and equipment. Blame rests on careless burning, matches, cigarette butts, and windy bonfires.
