Funeral in Guelph Wednesday followed a career as a journalist public servant and civic organizer.
A new transportation line, T K L Coach Line, began operations from Toronto to Kitchener via Acton with three daily trips each direction. W J Hollinger and Benn C Budd attended the inaugural departure, and the first coach arrived in Acton at 9 45 a m.

Mrs Alice McPherson visited friends at Dundas Hamilton and Kilbride that week. Miss Dorothy Burnside of Guelph visited at W A Murray's over the week end. Mrs Thomas Statham Church St is in very poor health. The burden of years is telling upon her. Mr and Mrs Joseph King Preston visited at Mrs Robert Bennet's Lake Avenue over the week end. Mr and Mrs N B P McLain and Miss Stein who have been it for several weeks are now convalescing. Miss Clara Lantz of the College of Pharmacy Toronto visited at her here over the week end. Mr Duncanteh MM Street who has been confined to house for several weeks is now recovering nicely. Mr Roy Young on the fourth line is doing well at the Guelph General Hospital and hopes shortly to return home. Mrs James Moore and Milas Clara went to Dundas on Thursday to attend the post nuptial reception of Mrs John S Moore.
Representatives of the Guelph United Church presbytery gathered at Norfolk Street Church to hear maintenance and extension fund reports. Total pledges reached 49 950 with payments of 53 141, surpassing the goal by over 3 000 as churches across Guelph Fergus Acton and surrounding communities contributed significant sums.
Canada's Finance Minister unveiled a comprehensive budget labeled Our National Prosperity Budget. It includes $25,000,000 in tax relief, a return to two cent general letter postage July 1, and abolition of the stamp tax on receipts while keeping cheque taxes. Income tax exemptions rise to Eight thousand for married and fifteen hundred for single earners, with graduated rates. Auto tariffs are cut, and Canada aims to boost domestic auto parts with a 50% Canadian-content requirement. Several minor tariff changes follow.
