Board hires two lifeguards to patrol bathing beach area
Acton Parks Board hired Alfred Chopka of Rockwood and Walter Visser of Guelph to staff the bathing beach for the summer. Lifeguards were equipped with sweat ers, with four Water Y's Swimming Club instructors ready to assist. The board also planned gate signs noting no charge for swimming during baseball games and arranged park use by the Interstate Ball Club with conditions. Minor Sports asked August 4–6 for Civic Holiday events, with no admission before certain times. Repairs included welding the baseball screen and racetrack grading.

Car Hits Pole Injuring Two Teens in Toronto Route Crash

Fire Destroys Barn at Acton Farm on Wednesday
A barn at Harold Brown's Acton farm was leveled by a Wednesday afternoon fire of unknown origin. Firefighters battled flames past dark to salvage some equipment including wagons, a forage harvester, milking machine, hay, straw, and grain. The barn, built in 1924, was insured though total loss unclear.
