Samaritans Aid Wounded Deer On No 7 Highway
Last Thursday afternoon a young buck was hit on No 7 highway west of town and left in a ditch. Petrolia residents Mr and Mrs John Rush stopped to help and found the deer with a broken back. They called PC John Hodgins and Dr. F G Oakes who assisted before the animal was euthanized. Traffic usage of the district is being assessed by the Department of Highways with traffic counters noted.

First Tax Notices Go Out On Pink Paper In Acton

They pried a safe but failed and stole about 225 dollars of garage equipment and stock before leaving by a front entrance. Police suspect two men and are pursuing several leads to identify them.

Milk Tanker Upside Down After Spill Near Speyside
Two tow trucks from Guelph hauled away a Keiffer Milk Transport tanker that rolled over on No 25 highway south of Speyside on Friday at about three in the morning. The milk spilled in a field as the tanker plunged down a hill after missing a curve. Damages were estimated at $200.
