Halton authorities announce polio vaccination for three to five year olds this year. School children bring home consent forms for poliomyelitis shots from the Halton County Health Unit. Eligible youngsters include those with two previous doses from 1955 and all elementary pupils. The three injections are given over weeks and months with cherry red serum.
A home missionary from the People's Church at Hamilton spoke at the Easter Thankoffering meeting of the Women’s Missionary Society of the United Church. Miss Evelyn Ricker described aiding newcomers with housing, jobs, language, and church services.
Neil Davy led a Lakeside chapter gathering in the new Legion hall detailing Spode china history from Josiah Spode through eighteenth century England. Copeland Dungan of Toronto promotes Spode in Canada while a crowd praised glaze, bone content, and its vast pattern line.
The Acton public school board reviewed pupil loads across grades four to seven and moved grade six to a new classroom to balance classes. A new three-grade setup was adopted, with Miss Anderson and others reassigned. Helen Little volunteered to teach from April to June. The board also discussed safety at the Rwer Willow crossing and approved a finance statement of 2650.25 after inspecting holiday painting.

In Guelph yesterday Mrs Edna Hardie filed a civil action over the death of her husband Edward George Hardie who was found Aug 22 1955 on a road boundary between Wellington and Halton counties after a party at a nearby farmhouse. The suit names Beverly Stewart of R R J Puslinch who reported the body.
Norval Juniors won the Ozburn shield for best play with Sugar and Spice at the OAC Guelph festival. Mildred Johnson and Ross Austin were named best actress and best actor, as Halton county and neighboring counties competed before about 800 spectators.

Jim Ledger is the new president of the Acton Rotary Club following approval of a new slate of officers Tuesday. The executive includes vice president Bill Mattocks secretary Ted Hansen treasurer Walt Woodburn and directors Harold Kinread David Dills Fred Gordon and Wes Mosales. Peanut Day was among topics discussed at the meeting.

Wellington district deputy Grand Master Ross R. McKay visited Walker Lodge in the Legion hall. Over 135 attendees from 15 lodges heard praise for the lodge and hall while meter reading concerns were raised with the Public Utilities Commission about employee access to homes. The commission supported reader access under law and promised a reply to the Acton Ratepayers Association. Discussion also covered Mill Street light standards and future hydro meetings.
