Incinerator Blaze Spreads to Garage on Main Street
Firemen extinguished a blaze that began with an incinerator causing grass to ignite and spread to a nearby garage at K Timbers’s home on Main Street South around 3 pm Thursday. The garage flames damaged one side but were stopped before reaching the lumber pile of J B Mackenzie and Son.

District Deputy Visits Acton Lodge Hosts Walker Lodge Meeting
About 150 Masons from Wellington and other districts attended as District Deputy Grand Master D. K. Bartleman and Grand Lodge officers visited Walker Lodge. Bartleman praised degree work led by L. W. Lovell and awarded A. J. Buchanan a Past Master’s jewel. Roy McIntosh received a Lodge membership certificate. A cold luncheon followed. Auditor's report to council shows a town operating surplus of 3009 80 for 1952. Waterworks, hydro and school boards report surpluses while sewer, cemetery and Citizens' Band run deficits. Public School and North Halton districts post strong gains, with overall town operations totaling 208,735.15 and taxes receivable at 3.28. Two Small Fires Trigger Fire Alarms Within Half Hour
Two fires near Acton prompted back to back alarms as the brigade returned to the hall Monday afternoon. The first blaze began around 1 30 pm in a reforestation area behind Guelph Street, likely from rail yard embers, burning brush and trees. A second alarm followed as a truck headed to Bower Avenue and then to Herbert Dodding’s property near Dublin Cemetery where a small brush fire was extinguished by a passerby before the brigade arrived.

Swift Current Boys Band Reports $2300 Balance From Toronto Trip
The Swift Current Saskatchewan band has tallied expenses for their Toronto trip last September. The total cost reached $11,077.15, leaving a balance of $2,300. Bandmaster Charlie Warren receives much of the credit for arranging the undertaking, seen as proof such trips can succeed with the right people.
