Acton School dominated the Halton County Eleventh Music Festival at Bronte, winning junior and party voice choir top honors, first in duets and piano solo, plus a gold medal for a Gowdy pupil. Limehouse and Dublin also earned awards as rural entries drew strong turnout and praise for organization and discipline.
The aptial Church in Acton held a successful annual meeting with the Treasurer noting a small balance. The Descons praised church harmony and joint effort across organizations. The pastor reported no baptisms but noted progress and potential conversions. J Reid resigned as Treasurer. Laura Reid elected to succeed him. Officers and auditors named. Worden honored for janitorial service. Rev E G Baxter presided. a light lunch followed.
The Women X Ynalitute held its monthly session at Saint Roons YMCA on Thursday with Mrs Reesor presiding. Mrs Bishop presented a talk on Gardening and Care of House Plants, food points discussed, Miss A Ellott led roll call, a Canadian bird noted. Mrs Grant reported on the Millon board meeting, Lorraine Pallant sang several lap-dance selections, and a social afterward followed the National Anthem.

In Ottawa the Ec MP announces changes including the retirement of the High Commissioner and the appointment of Assistant Commissioner D La Nauze to command a TM division of the force following recent promotions.
The Esquesing Council held its regular monthly meeting with Reeve N A Robinson presiding. Tenders for gravel supply and tractor for grader were approved, including 8000 yards of gravel at 0 per cubic yard and 2000 copies of waters lists. Payments to various local suppliers were authorized.
Revenues at Acton customs office show a yearly total of 102 905 07 for the year ending March. earlier quarters posted 31 140 88 and over 29 000 in others. The report cites a marked rise from 1935 and 1936 figures, with last year at 84 151 83 and pensions of 76 341 94 for the prior year.
