Maynard Edward Ryan reports his new Ford V-8 was stolen from in front of his home after Mass. Hours later the stolen car crashed with Harold Mansfield’s vehicle at Kelley’s Corner South Acton injuring Mrs Mansfield. Walter A. Gilbert and two companions fled but were arrested in Acton. Gilbert and Bombard treated at Omers on Hospital.
Acton Joseph Bombard 21 of Hudson with Walter Gilbert 17 of Somerville fled after stealing a car and sideswiping a Walthem driver. They were arrested after abandoning the auto on Route 111 and will face larceny charges and related counts in Concord Court. Gilbert was held on multiple charges including leaving the scene of an accident and endangering the public. Sepka 17 Arlington remanded on operating without a license and endangering others.
A petition bearing 140 signatures was filed with the Selectmen seeking a special town meeting to obtain citizen opinion on allowing Sunday liquor sales in restaurants. Licenses were previously issued restricting restaurant liquor sales to six days a week.

Attorney Alfred McCleary questioned the $13,000 appropriation for rebuilding Wal tham street and the moderator sustained the point of order. Guyer Fowler returned from a 2200 mile sail from Montreal via the St Lawrence and Atlantic Ocean with stops at Newfoundland.

Katherine Heaton led a lineup that included recitations by Joan and Constance Ayotte Ann Sharpe and Ann White piano solos by George White and Mary Sharpe an Irish Jig by Teresa White a vocal solo by Paul Werden and dances by Marion Sheridan Colbert Sewall Philomena Christofone Nancy Driscoll Constance Martin Vincent Russo Barbara Bouse Ethel Burgess and Arline Trombly with refreshments served.

Fowler James C Drury LeRoy Bowman and other leaders discussing education cooperation democracy and growth of consumer cooperatives across the United States. About five hundred attendees from Virginia to Maine attended with tours of Maynard facilities and a call for a central educational bureau.
Mrs Ann T Flaherty Cullinane widow of Cornelius J Cullinane longtime Concord resident died Sunday at home 4 Fielding Street Born in Ireland May 10 1864 she came to America at nineteen and raised a large family including three sons and four daughters She was devoted to family and community Her funeral with High Mass of Requiem was at St Bernard s Church Burial followed in St Bernard s Cemetery She is survived by three sons four daughters nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Maynard-Lexington High School dominated the meet on Alumni Field yesterday afternoon burying Maynard 560 to 1 2. Captain Tarzan Cowdrey led the winners with clean sweeps in 220 and 440. Priesti topped locals with a first place. Manley won the 100 yard dash in 10.9 seconds and Love took the 220 with Faulkner second. McLaughlin won the 440 with Roberts second and Smith third. Claire Elson won the 880 with Hatfield second. Bull won the mile with Lindquist second and Pozerycki third. Priest won shot put with Cowdrey second. Cowdrey won broad jump and tied for first in high jump with Sorenson and Fields at 6 ft 3 1-4 in.
Mr and Mrs Anthony Arcist of Railroad Street recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with relatives and friends at home. Guests came from Salem Boston Cambridge Peabody Worcester and Maynard. The couple have four children Bruno Joseph John and Helen.
Memorial Day observances in Maynard featured Frank J. DeMara Post A L and Maynard Post V F W leading a parade from Assabet mill to Memorial Park. The event included recitations of Flanders Field and Gettysburg Address, wreath layings at Glenwood and St Bridget's cemeteries, and a rifle salute from Fort Devens. Clergy, veterans, school children, and dozens of local groups attended, with ceremonies at multiple cemeteries and a post-dinner at Masonic hall.
