The report notes health, finance, and social happenings including lawyers, hotels, lumber interests, and Knights of Pythias activity.
James Cooper is very sick at Polson's camp and cannot leave the house. Fletcher is confined to his room with a fever. Mr Campbell was summoned to Montesano Friday afternoon due to his father Edward Campbell's illness. Surveying work began Friday on the new addition beside Hoquiam Lumber and Shingle Co.'s mill. About 300 fine oz in the addition is planned.
Wm. Clevenger returned from Aberdeen and Hoquiam Tuesday. Rev. Hughs attended the annual M. E. Church Conference in Everett last week. A dance in the hall Saturday night passed off very nicely. A large ball is planned for October 14.

James A. Arland of Montesano bought the Ed Campbell ranch from Edward Campbell. The 350 acre tract adds to Arland’s 250 acres, creating a 600 acre dairy farm with 75 to 100 cows. Purchase price was 30000 dollars. Expected value over 75000 dollars plus stock, nearly 100000 including holdings. Anxious attention follows the deal in the Sound region. Also note Bucklen’s Arnica Salve advert claims for cuts and burns with testimonial.
