Morse Wins Suit Over San Francisco Vessel Purchase

Sudden and Christianson sued Morse in superior court after he stopped payment on a 5000 option cheque for the M. F. Plant vessel. The jury awarded defendants 40 dollars and 50 cents. The case concerns a 107000 sale attempt and may be appealed to the supreme court. Attorneys for Sudden & Christianson were Hogan and Bridges. Morse was represented by Cross and Agnew.

Montesano Hotel proprietor Alexander Nichols commits suicide

Alexander Nichols 48, Montesano hotel owner and local official, was found dead in his room from a self inflicted gunshot. He left a farewell note to his wife and two daughters. Coroner reports the bullet entered above the right ear and passed into the next room.

Band Saw Breaks at Hoquiam Mill

A double cut band saw at Hoquiam Lumber and Shingle broke during full speed operation. The mishap wrecked part of the mill, hurled wheels through the air and roof, but no injuries were reported. Repairs will limit output until a replacement can be installed, with damage in the thousands.
