Washington June 14. A secret commission of lawyers and businessmen in Washington is drafting exemption rules for registered men essential to national industry. President Wilson must approve. Local boards will judge dependents and official status while federal review boards travel districts to hear applicants.

A Seattle firm has won the contract to build and equip the Oakville cooperative cheese factory for 3000 dollars. The building measures 60 by 28 feet and is hoped to be completed within a month.
The 1918 Moose convention will be held in Aber deen next June. The Washington Idaho and British Columbia delegations combined to win the gathering at Bellingham this week led by Harry Druxman. About 1,500 Moose are expected to attend from three regions.
R. E. Foy proprietor of the Grant Hotel left Monday night for Seattle to attend the Masonic grand lodge. After the session ends he will tour British Columbia for ten days visiting.
Goodbar Jones returned from Seattle where he passed the examination for admission to the hospital corps of the army. He awaits orders to report to the training camp in Pennsylvania.
History was made at Grays Harbor Motorship Corp when the first government ordered wooden ship keel was laid to fight German submarines. Captain J F Blain of Seattle and Bruce Short announced the event and, at the adjacent Grays Harbor Shipbuilding plant, launched the Mount Rainier, a 290 foot auxiliary schooner. The federal shipping board awarded five Sanderson Porter contracts, renewing hopes for Aberdeen and Willapa Harbor yard development.
Sound Amusement company of Seattle will headline Hoquiam’s Fourth of July celebration with concessions on the hotel area and Seventh street. A grand water sports program on the Hoquiam river near Seventh street and a patriotic event at Heerman's field featuring Bishop Matt S Hughes are planned.
Mrs. Anna Antos wife of John Antos died last evening at 1317 Summit Street aged 55. She is survived by her husband and a grown son L Antos. The Antos family were Aberdeen pioneers having lived here 27 years. Body removed to Whiteside parlors. Funeral arrangements not yet made.
The Polish Independent Political club formed a committee at its last meeting to organize a grand patriotic ball. Proceeds will benefit the Red Cross fund or Company G. Completion is expected after the committee reports at the next Sunday meeting.
Mike Spisak received a postcard from his son John Spisak stating he has enlisted in the navy and is heading to the Atlantic coast aboard the battleship Arizona.

A mass meeting is planned at the Grand theater with Governor Ernest Lister and Dr Henry Suzzalo to speak. Team captains and workers map district by district during the initial week of canvassing.
John Est a Wyncod ie valley pioneer died at his home west of Montesano after a long illness aged 77. Funeral held Tuesday under Masonic auspices. Survived by wife and son Nels Est, Grays Harbor foreman who rushed home from Denver but arrived too late. Born in Scandinavia, he immigrated as a young man and settled in 1883, building a farm in Wy ncodie valley and later a tract adjoining Montesano. Known for integrity and kindness, he earned local respect.
