The Aberdeen Boosters cheered on with a brass band and a purse presented after a clutch homer by Higginbotham. Almost two hundred Aberdeen boosters rode 266 miles by rail to see the home team defeat Seattle. The excursion was a social, promotional, and financial success with a 14 member brass band, free food and cigars, and banners for the Fourth of July. The train stopped at Montesano Satsop Elma Porter and Oakville en route where handouts were distributed. The trip returned to Aberdeen at 1 am and the town gained valuable advertising beyond the expedition’s cost.
