Some residents travel, others recover from injuries as communities prepare parades, reunions, and church activities.
Miss Ruth Northup of Clearwater attends the Mid Summer Normal in Seattle. Miss Martha Acheson returns from Spokane. Mrs. Henry Mills travels to Wisconsin for about two months. Oil prospects show promise at Westport Hogland North Beach and Grays Harbor City. Clarence Morgan marries Miss Sarah Champion in Seattle on the 25th of June. Deputy Marshal Peel practices with the fire engine. Capt. Pinkston leaves Hoquiam Hotel for U S Quartermaster’s department on the 15th. Dr. Edward Lucan resumes charge of the big hotel. Westport seeks a county manager post. Voters urged to avoid party bias. Strong language criticizes various political factions and parties.

The American Paper Co. sued J. P. Sullivan and won about 175 dollars. Sheriff Huff levied on Sullivan’s printing office and kept by Marshal Graham for a sale set July 8. A locked office and a chattel mortgage lead to accusations of courtesy undermining strict sale procedures and possible personal liability for Graham.
J Edward Medcalf died of Brights disease in Portland Monday night and was returned to Montesano for burial. Aged 54 years 21 days he was an early Chehalis county settler noted for probity. Funeral held this afternoon at the Montesano M E church. He leaves a wife and six children all residing at the homestead except Mrs N G Wheeler of this city.
Proposals are invited for the city mail run to the trains and back for the next year. Details and conditions are in government notices at City Council Chambers and the Post Office. Proposal forms available from the Postmaster and must be returned by the 15th. C. R. Bet., Postmaster.
Y P C U members travel to Tacoma for a meeting on July 23 to 25 with round trip fare set at 3 dollars 75 cents. Sales run July 2 to 25, limit July 29. N Henperson serves as agent.
