The American Paper Co. sued J. P. Sullivan and won about 175 dollars. Sheriff Huff levied on Sullivan’s printing office and kept by Marshal Graham for a sale set July 8. A locked office and a chattel mortgage lead to accusations of courtesy undermining strict sale procedures and possible personal liability for Graham.

Death of J. E. Medcalf in Montesano
J Edward Medcalf died of Brights disease in Portland Monday night and was returned to Montesano for burial. Aged 54 years 21 days he was an early Chehalis county settler noted for probity. Funeral held this afternoon at the Montesano M E church. He leaves a wife and six children all residing at the homestead except Mrs N G Wheeler of this city.
