Highway Board to Visit Harbor in Olympia region

Governor Lister and the state highway commission will visit Hoquiam July 10 to inspect the Quinsault and C. D. Hansen roads for Olympic Highway use. The group will include M. M. Godman W. J. Roberts Edward Meath and C. W. Clausen with local officials present. They will be hosted by the Hoquiam Commercial Club at the Hotel Grayport then travel by auto to view the routes and depart to Olympia Friday afternoon.

Reception for Naval Officers and Governor Lister in Hoquiam

Governor Lister will be Hoquiam’s principal guest on the Fourth. He arrived last evening and will be hosted at the Adams home during his stay. He speaks on the Fourth and later attends auto races in Tacoma. A reception and ball for visiting fleet officers was held at the Elks' home.

State Militia at American Lake Maneuvers Underway

Three officers and 63 men compose Company G for annual maneuvers at American Lake this week. Twenty eight men are already on the Sound laying out camp or serving Aberdeen in the state rifle contest. City council clash over banners and saloon curfew raised at meeting

A city council meeting turned into a county convention as the Timber Workers Union banner was allowed briefly then removed by Mayor France after a Monday special session. The council upheld the closing hour of 1 a.m. by a 12 to 0 vote while debates about ordinance enforcement continued.

Old cannon ball found near Montesano sparks theories
