In a fast moving session, lawmakers approved a total of 2,732,284 dollars across multiple House bills in a single day. The action involved key committees and funding for state programs, reflecting urgent budget needs and surplus allocations.
Olympia reports show bills for about 38 million dollars in appropriations plus an 8 million dollar bond proposal and a planned Pacific highway from Blaine to Vancouver. Senate and House debate budget figures while lawmakers push to trim and protect funding amid heavy highway and public works agendas.
Aberdeen is described as a growing commercial hub with 15000 residents and harbor improvements funded by Congress. James W. Chehalis County loggers plan to form a log sealing bureau to standardize grade and supply logs to mills. A stock company will be created with members from mills and logging firms. Headquarters are expected in Aberdeen as the bureau tracks logs on hand and fills orders, aiming for uniform grading rather than price control.
Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce urges Great Northern to run trains to Aberdeen and Hoquiam after a luncheon discussion. The railroad may extend to the Harbor if business leaders push for service, though it currently serves Portland via Northern Pacific routes and does not plan passenger service here.
Interest in the Scandinavian meetings held at the church on East First and FE streets remains strong and organizers note the sessions will continue for a short time.
Oregon-Washington Railroad and Navigation company bought thirty million feet of ties from Lewis River Ties & Lumber Mills. Deliveries start next month and run five months, shipped by rail from Ridgefield, Washington. Prices withheld, but likely around 11 per tie, totaling about 300000 dollars. Ties to be used on O W R & N Co lines in Eastern Oregon.
A mass meeting at the Grand theater drew 1800 to 1000 attendees from Aberdeen and Hoquiam. Speakers from both sides argued for and against division while urging swift action to approve a county court house bill now pending in Olympia.
