Potential Grays Harbor Steamship Service Sparked by American Hawaiian
W H Roberts of the American Hawaiian Steamship company suggested placing a packet steamer on the Grays Harbor Panama run after meeting with Hoquiam shippers. He noted adequate local business and sugar shipments from Hawaii. Lumber could reach the east coast via the Panama Canal at a 40 cent rate if vessels call at the harbor. Roberts declined to commit but said the firm would consider opportunities to build up business.
