Washington June 24. A man’s right to store liquor in his home for the long dry period after July 1 stood up today against an attack on that provision of the prohibition enforcement bill before the House Judiciary Committee.

Mexico’s Interior Secretary issued a broad statement welcoming immigrants with honorable intentions while keeping strict liquor controls. Signing of Treaty Still Uncertain As German Delegation Delays

Paris June 25 The Allied delegates in Paris await signoff on the peace treaty with Germany as officials note no clear word from Berlin. French observers expect a signing after Saturday or possibly Monday as Germany struggles to assemble a delegation and face the burden of admitting defeat. Hermann Mueller and Haniel Von Haimhausen reportedly declined to accept signing duties.

Pacific Fleet of 10 Sails for West Coast Next Month

The Pacific fleet, formed from Atlantic vessels, will sail from Hampton Roads to the West Coast between July 15 and 20. Secretary Daniels says New Mexico will fly Admiral Rodman’s flag as Pacific flagship, Pennsylvania remains Atlantic flagship. Final fleet composition and equalization of firepower and speed will be announced soon.

Senator Poindexter, Republican from Washington, told the Fifteenth District Republican Club that the party must save the republic from national disintegration. Greenwood visitors report rainfall in two hours

Judge Frank B. Gary and Mr. J M Nickles visited Greenwood on business. The town reports a four and a quarter inch rain in two hours. John Martin of Prosperity was in town Wednesday. Religiously inclined at Abbeville were praying for rain.

Senate Clears Huge Army Bill for 400000 Men and Funding

The Senate passed the army appropriation bill totaling 3833 000 000 enabling an average army of 400 000 next year with an increase in personnel and funds over the House bill. The measure includes 216 385 000 for pay 523 991 000 for subsistence and transport 12 215 000 for the National Guard 19 000 000 for ordnance and 45 000 000 for storage and shipping facilities. The bill now goes to conference as naval funding and other appropriations follow.

Joseph P Anderson Named Truant Officer at Antreville

Joseph P. Anderson son of Dr and Mrs J A Anderson Antreville was named truant officer to succeed Mrs M Coleman who resigned because of duties as head of the tome section department of the Red Cross. Anderson recently returned from overseas service and was elected principal of Antreville High School but declined to accept the position.

M. H. Kustos proprietor of the Columbia Candy Kitchen bought on Tuesday from J. Allen Smith the Washington street property opposite W. A. Calvert, formerly occupied by an old stable. The price cited was $4,750.
