In Abbeville's shade of the water oak a Second secession convention of Abbeville Post No. 2 American Legion chose delegates to the State convention in Spartanburg. The group opposed a cash bonus for able bodied ex soldiers but backed a plan to record opposition to any bonus. Delegates named to represent Abbeville in Spartanburg next Tuesday will vote per their best judgment on secession.

Woman Shot by Marvin Fell Dies After Inquest
Emma Madison, an elderly Cedar Springs resident, died from gunshot wounds after an incident at her landlord Marvin Fell's farm. The inquest heard that Madison drew a pistol first, Fell fired, and Madison was fatally wounded. Fell surrendered to the sheriff and was granted bail of $500.

The Abbeville County highway commission closed a contract with H. B. Humbert of Laurens County as county engineer.
