Soldier Claude Hughes's Body Arrives in Abbeville
The body of Private Claude Eugene Hughes of Battery B 317 Field Artillery 81st Division who died in France October 11 1918 will arrive in Abbeville Thursday afternoon via the Southern Railway. It will rest at his mother's home before burial Friday at Melrose Cemetery. He was a son of Mrs E V Hughes of Abbeville and had several siblings including Mrs Elbert White of Walnut Street. Funeral services are set for 11 o'clock Friday morning at the cemetery.

Death of W. M. Blanchett at Calhoun Falls
William M. Blanchett 55 died suddenly at his Calhoun Falls home after working in the Calhoun Mills and gardening. Funeral services were held at Melrose Cemetery with Rev. Mason and Rev. Solomon officiating. He lived in Abbeville previously and served as time-keeper at Abbeville Cotton Mills. Survived by his wife Miss Linder of Georgia and children Mrs. Beauford, Jesse Blanchett, Mrs. Waddell, Mrs. Thornton, Lois and Edna Blanchett, plus a sister Mrs. Mamie Grant and many other relatives in the county.

Decrease Ordered in Railway Wages
