Memorial Day Observed With Col. Gaston as Orator
Col. Arthur L. Gaston of Chester delivered the address at Memorial Day exercises held under Winnie Davis Chapter UDC. Veterans from Civil and World Wars attended with hundreds of local pupils. The program in First Presbyterian church included songs by the Church Home orphanage choir and students, a cemetery wreathing at Rose Hill, and a bountiful dinner for veterans and guests. Graves of War veterans were newly added and listed colonels and sergeants honored in attendance.
