The vigilance committee detained E. E. McCaffrey, once employed by jeweler E. M. Kirkpatrick, for unhelpful language toward southern interests. He was jailed for safe keeping amid tensions in the town.

The text of Order No 4 issued by Governor Manning as commander in chief voids the January 11 1915 general order No 2. It declares the order of that date illegal and of no effect while stating that all rights duties and privileges of the National Guard and volunteer militia remain in force as if the questioned order had never been issued. The order takes immediate effect.
