Paris Exposition Details Grow From 1892 Proposal

The Paris exposition began from Jules Roche's 1892 proposal to President Carnot. A decree in July 1892 announced a universal exposition for 1900. It covers 300 acres with 65 buildings and 42 cooperating powers, costing about $27 million, with $1.21 million U S government appropriation and 20 million francs each from government and Paris city. Admission is 1 franc from 10 am to 6 pm, 2 francs at other hours.
