In the prime of life and at the height of influence C C James Dominion Agricultural Commissioner died of heart disease in a streetcar at St Catherine's last Thursday.
June reports show visitors to Winnipeg and Lipton, plus a Churchbridge guest staying with Mrs. Abbott. Mr and Mrs Kirsch celebrated their wedding anniversary with a dining room clock. APlowing Match dance drew a large crowd at Agricultural Hall and a South Beaver Grain Growers picnic ended with a Hazel School House dance. Methodist Ladies Aid planned the Annual Dinner for Fair Day, and Mrs Hart and family prepared to travel south.
A Wednesday afternoon blaze gutted the livery stable belonging to Redolf Porth and occupied by Howard Scott. The fire, starting from a lighted match or cigar dropped through a floor crack, spread before discovery while George Scott and Jim Lee attempted to fight it from outside. Page 4 continues.
The Rev. W.8 Reid delivered a farewell sermon marking his transfer to Weyburn after four years in charge of the First Methodist Church. Choir director Will T. Moore led special music with Dr. Boughton on the organ and soloists Fawcett Simpson and Mr Moore performing.
A lawn party at the Monastery Saturday afternoon faced rain threats yet drew steady crowds. Proceeds totaled 90.65 with expenses high but covered by donations. The event honored the Drewners of the Empire and praised volunteers for their devoted efforts, ending in warm thanks from organizers and attendees.

Mrs Switzer led both Gold and Diamond Medal contests in Regina. Dot Crawford of Lodinn Heat, age 10, won the Gold Medal. The Regina event drew over 100 delegates, with nearly 300 attending a banquet and officials at Government House. The WCTU plans its July meeting at the Baptist Church. Members attending include Mee Switzer and several Mrs Switzer delegates to the Dominion Convention in Regina June 22 to 27.
The Berual High School Board received tenders for a laboratory project with an expected cost of 2000 dollars and plans to let the contract soon. It also offered school grounds to the Town Council for park use during the holidays.
On Monday night inspectors charged W A S Magrath D A Sands and T Switzer with contravening the half holiday by law by keeping stores open last Wednesday. They pleaded not guilty alleging the by law steps under the Town Act were not followed though they admit the contravention. Prosecution argued that acts of bodies are treated as valid unless proven otherwise and that a JP cannot question the law. The hearing was adjourned to Wednesday at 2 pm.
The council met as usual and appointed the mayor to attend the Municipalities Convention. A donation of $100.00 was made to a local horticultural society.
At the Hometmalere Convention in Saskatoon, M Anderson Yorkton School Inspector praised progress among foreign born residents and urged women to seek school board roles. He cited foreign language instruction, praised teacher Leguute, and argued diverse representation would improve education and rising young people.
The Trenk Pacific Railway introduces Parlor Observation Cars on Winnipeg to Prince Rupert routes. The cars dedicate interiors to passenger lounging and sight seeing with smoking allowed throughout except a ladies only parlor section.
