G H Green begins operations on the Copper Farm claim at Green City Michigan with Tait in charge of a government crew repairing the Wilcox wagon road. Ten stamps drop at Second Relief mine as twenty men are employed there. B C Standard Co acquires 500 inches of water on Porcupine Creek to power Hunter VY mine. Goodenough vein assays reveal a large pay ore body with cross sample at 834. Yankee Girl development shows a 1000 foot ledge with nine foot width valued at 1450. Ymir mine reports 660 foot level looking strong and expects better returns this month. June gross receipts total 16000 dollars. Local recording office notes several assess ment work and locations including Spotted Horse Lone Star New York Buffalo Rustler Edith claims.
Mrs Crowe has purchased the W A Hufschmidt bakery business for her son George Crowe. George is a capable baker and will likely maintain the bakery’s good name in Ymir. The Methodist church service topic is The Catholic Church and may be the last before Mr Lovering leaves for London to teach until October and study medicine at McGill University. No new Methodist preacher appointment is expected soon.
The Watpery Hotel lists guests from Denver Colorado to Nelson and Spokane including C K Hutchison W Ferguson and J Jenick along with guests at Cosmovonitan Havens Waneta Salmo and Nelson. Names appear with multiple spellings and offhand notes indicating various Canadian and American cities.
In Ottawa July 27 the election bill was considered seeking elections in certain constituencies with dates set by returning officers after the general election. MP W A Galliher argued for keeping date decisions local while opponents warn of political leverage and delayed campaigning to aid the governing party.
The report records lead ore shipments from Ymir mines to the Nelson smelter for the year ended June 6 1904. Ymir shipped 2 195 tons of ore containing 667 615 pounds of lead with other mines contributing, yielding a total lead value of over 35 000 dollars and including a government bounty of about 6 403 50 dollars, totaling over 42 000 dollars.
Last Sunday at Salo the Salmo boys defeated the Ymir team fifteen to eight. Batting was about even, but Ymir’s fielding was weak.
The Daily News prints Patrick Daly’s letter railing at lack of government work on the Dundee road to ship ore. The editors caution Daly’s political motives, doubt his claims of large ore tonnage, and argue patience and proper processes will best secure road aid and public works.
